Real Madrid 3-2 Getafe post-match comment

It was another remarkable comeback. It’s 3-2 victory for Real. It was a crazy match I’ve ever seen so far. It is a ‘small’ derby match. Getafe, a modest team situated 13 kilometers from Madrid. They are also the youngest team in Spanish Primera Division. Their performance that night outclassed their current position which I though they really don’t deserved it. A team which is well comprise of unwanted players of many clubs such as Roberto Soldado & Esteban Granero [former Real Madrid players] and Mario [former Barcelona player], only to mention few names. They played an open football. The game play at normal pace during first half, which we saw Real couldn’t play very well. Getafe took the lead through former Real’s combination. It was 10 minutes past, when Granero cross the ball perfectly, only for Soldado to head in for frst goal of the night. Well, every goal was scored when there is a mistake. Pepe was the one to be blamed for that goal because he failed to clear that ball. Iker Casillas couldn’t do nothing except for his little fingertip save which not enough to prevent the goal because the ball was perfectly placed in the right time and position. After the first goal, Real suddenly took control the game. They were trying very hard to reach the box of Getafe. There were free-kicks and corner-kicks, but Real couldn’t take any advantage from it. They even couldn’t create a single clear-cut chance. Rafael Van der Vaart and Guti, both start for Real in the absent of Lassana Diarra and the rested Arjen Robben. For a player at good reputation like Van der Vaart, he should play better. His free-kicks and corner-kicks was awful. His delivery and precision is very poor. He even couldn’t have better ball control plus his misplaced pass was terrible for Real’s forwards. Real took a total domination of possession, while the ball moves around the center of the pitch for most times in the first half, suddenly a loose ball from Getafe’s defenders allow Fernando Gago to head towards Raul only for him to chest the ball and made a desperate pass to Gonzalo Higuain. Higuain perfectly shield the ball from Getafe’s defender and evade the goalkeeper to slot home the equaliser. It was a final minutes of first half goal. Real Madrid 1-1 Getafe at halftime. There are still more football to come. Real made change by bringing in Robben for ineffective, Van der Vaart, at halftime. It’s look like Juande Ramos so desperate to get the result. The pace of the game changed a little bit after that. Real going all out for attack while left the backline opens for any attempt of attack. Real was caught dead many times by Getafe’s counter attack, but none of the chances goes in favour of Getafe. Real also did has chances through Sergio Ramos, Higuain and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, but none of them taken the opportunities. Real decided to opt for more attacking play by taken off Fabio Cannavaro for defensive midfielder, Javi Garcia. Huntelaar was never there that night. He was so invisible except for his only clear-cut chance which he failed to execute it. It was a perfect pass from Guti which Huntelaar broke Getafe’s offside trap but he failed in an attempt to round-off Getafe’s goalkeeper. While Real were looking forward to get the goal, Robben was caught injured and has to be taken off. Royston Drenthe replaced him. The game was more open with Real’s backline is in possession of any hazards to come. Juan Albin should have scored for Getafe when he managed to get past Real’s defence, but his first touch was poor to execute the ball. While Real was really obsessed with their improved attacking play, Getafe make a deaf counter attack. Granero make a very good long pass form the middle pitch. Pepe were caught between two Getafe’s players. A Getafe’s player, Jaime Gavilan I guess, on the far side managed to head the ball for Albin. This time no mistake from him, with first-timer he struck the ball past helpless Casillas. Again he scored against Real. Garcia was so late in closing down. It was 84th minutes of the game and look like Getafe ready for another win against Real. Madridistas was really hoping for miracle to come at that point. Then Getafe concedes free-kicks at very dead position. Guti took charged the role. With his left-foot, he placed the ball perfectly into the top corner to beat Getafe’s Vladimir Stojkovic. It’s 2-2 with four minutes normal time to go. Real continues searched for victory. Higuain received a card for diving in the box which results him to miss the game at Seville. A television replay shown that was a contact form Getafe’s defender. Again, Getafe make counter-attack, Javier Casquero managed to get past Pepe at the edge of the box and in desperate attempt from Pepe to make recovery, he make a little contact with Casquero only for him to stumble onto the field, which result in penalty kick for Getafe. Pepe immediately lost his cool after referee blow the whistle. He kicked Casquero twice which bring the game into very intense moment for both tams and fans. Pepe was given straight red card for the foul which may see him ban for few games for his unacceptable behaviour towards Casquero. Casquero then took the penalty kick himself. In an attempt to make a Palenka’s like kick, he failed to lift the ball with power only to see Casillas makes the save with only one hand. Real burst into dying minutes seek for goal. Garcia’s foul on Granero raised the temperature of the game. There were many players involved in the confrontation. There were pushing among both teams’ players. Marcelo and Cata Diaz exchanged words harshly between them and both were booked by the referee. Real trying so hard to win the game and finally paid off. Higuain was the total hero of the night. He picked up the loose ball to sprint past Getafe’s defend and fire a stunning left-footed drive from 20 yards to beat helpless Stojkovic. It was moment of madness for Real’s players. Emotions and satisfactions were there. It was great match-up. Real were a lot improved in term of attacking in the second half. They even could hold the ball longer and ideas were everywhere. But surely they will miss man of the match, Higuain, in Seville.  Thanks for another remarkable comeback and great game. Hala Madrid!!!
