UCL Quaterfinal 2008/09 post-match comment
Lesson learned. The so-called best team in the world at the moment, Liverpool have been given a very nice lesson thanks to the masterclass tactics of Guus Hiddink. 4-0 at home, 4-1 at Old Trafford, 5-0 at home. Real Madrid, Manchester United and Aston Villa. All of these clubs is former European Champions and LIVERPOOL just beat them like nothing. WOW!! Let me look at Real, first two goals are really questionnable. In knockout competition, all you need is to win. That two goals changed Real’s tactic making them more desperate, thus lead to the other two goals. Then MU, this one was total mistake from MU. Defensive lapses have cost everything. In addition, Liverpool doesn’t create many chances as they thought they are. Then Villa, Villa have been struggling with their form for the last few months. I just could said Villa is no match for Liverpool or even Everton at that time. They didn’t face a true contender until the game at Fulham. Then Chelsea, the genuine problem for them. They managed to get an early lead, but couldn’t take control the midfield. Most of their fans said it is because Mascherano didn’t play. I like to requote a sentence they used upon me last time, “Loser is always lost”. But i really hope Liverpool able to progress to semi-final. Forget that Liverpool thing, another English clubs, Arsenal and MU just getting draw against their tiny opponents. I’m always annoy when there are people/media who kept praising the English clubs as they are the greatest. Still they have learned the lesson. Finally, Barca show no mercy to everyone and this time to Bayern. Their three-pronged attacker is the best in the world. With flair, slick pass, fancy thorugh pass, everything was perfect for them, but still i’m not convince they are the best team in the world. Why? Because they didn’t meet their true enemy yet. Everybody is feared to face Barca. Barca’s weakness is their defensive. No other team were brave enough to play an open game against Barca. I would love to see Barca vs Liverpool and see how many goals conceed by Liverpool. But i hope Barca to face Chelsea because i believe that’s the real matchup.
